Years of experience in the decarbonization of industry

Around 400,000 tonnes of carbon-based hydrogen are currently produced from fossil gas and consumed by French industry (chemical and refining sectors).

Hynamics develops, builds and operates facilities for the production and distribution of carbon-free hydrogen produced by water electrolysis.

Decades of research and development within the EDF Group have enabled Hynamics to master electrolysis technology, thus ensuring a secure and competitive supply of low-carbon and renewable hydrogen to manufacturers. This know-how makes it possible to develop large-scale projects in sectors that are considered difficult to decarbonise.

Water electrolysis: how does it work?

The objectives of hydrogen production by electrolysis

  • Replacing carbon-based hydrogen currently produced and consumed for industry
  • Ensuring a secure and competitive supply to the European industrial fabric
  • Achieve the climate goals of the Paris Agreement by 2050 and reduce the use of fossil fuels.

A turnkey offer

Hynamics supports small and large industries in the decarbonization of their sites.

What are the benefits ?

  • Environment

Decarbonise industrial processes in order to meet the 2050 climate objectives, in particular by accelerating the electrification of the industrial fabric of sectors described as difficult to decarbonize.

  • Security

    Ensuring safe hydrogen production.

  • Secure supply

Ensuring clean, stable and competitive hydrogen production through electrolysis technology.

ABC Ottmarsheim - Decarbonisation solution for the fertilizer industry

First ammonia and low-carbon fertilizer production project in France

The objectives:

  • Reducing dependence on fossil natural gas
  • Substituting part of the fossil hydrogen used by LAT Nitrogen's fertilizer production site in Alsace.

Some key figures:

  • 50 MW of electrolysis
  • 36,000 tonnes of low-carbon ammonia produced per year
  • 15% of the site's H2 needs decarbonized
  • 48,000 tonnes of CO2 avoided per year
  • Recycling and consumption of effluents, wastewater

HYDOM - Decarbonisation solution for the fertilizer industry

DOMO Chemicals and Hynamics are developing the HyDom project: the first low-carbon HMD (hexamethylenediamine) production project in France.

Challenges and perspectives:

  • Reducing dependence on fossil natural gas: sovereignty over low-carbon hydrogen.
  • Participating in the decarbonization of the Polyamide value chain 6.6
  • Project within the Chemistry Valley, which offers prospects for collaborations.

Some key figures:

  • 85 MW of electrolysis
  • 140,000 tonnes of low-carbon HMD produced per year
  • 100% of the site's H2 needs decarbonized
  • ~80,000 tons of CO2 avoided per year.
